Bullying definition
Bullying generally takes one of four forms verbal, physical, indirect and cyber. Although not an exhaustive list, common examples of bullying include racial bullying, homophobic bullying and sexual bullying

Too many pupils suffer from bullying at some point during their time in school. Certain groups of pupils are at a higher-than-average risk of being bullied, including those with protected characteristics as defined in the 2010 Equality Act

Policy development
It is crucial that all educational settings have an anti-bullying policy. A good anti-bullying policy will provide all staff, young people and parents with a shared understanding of what bullying is and how it will be tackled
Resolving a situation
When bullying is reported, staff should always take it seriously, find a quiet place to talk, stay calm and record the allegation
Torfaen Strategy
Torfaen County Borough Council has published an overarching anti-bullying document entitled Torfaen Anti-bullying Guidance and Policy for Education Settings
